Instructions: General use: 30-90ml per day. Performance: Introduce gradually, starting at 60ml per day and increasing the amount over 2 weeks to 225g (2 teacups) for normal activity, and over 4 weeks increase to 450g (4 teacups) for performance horses. Cats and small dogs 5-10ml per day; medium to large dogs 10-15ml per day. Pump dispenser provides 30ml per pump.

Fats are an essential food and play many useful roles in the body, ranging from supplying energy to ensuring the integrity of cell membranes. Fats in the form of oils are commonly fed to horses. During digestion they are broken down to release energy. Fats consist of a chain of fatty acids linked to a glycerol molecule. Fatty acids are important for a wide array of cell structure components and for many chemical reactions in the body, including hormonal and energy activities. Fatty acids play a vital role in establishing a healthy lipid barrier in the skin, the defence mechanism against assault from irritants and infection. Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids (PUFAs) are Essential Fatty Acids; i.e can not be made by the body and must be provided in the diet. The three types, Omega-3, Omega-6 and Omega-9 oils must be present in the diet in the correct balance for good health. These fatty acids include Linolenic Acid, EPA (Eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) which are well known for their role in the support of a healthy immune system, skin and joints, reproductive system and performance.

The unique formulation of NAF Omega Oil, combining the benefits of soya, linseed and hemp oil to provide the optimum blend of 3,6 and 9 fatty acids makes it the natural choice for all horses whether for general health and coat shine, or as a significant energy source. NAF Omega Oil is an ideal energy source for performance, providing more energy than the same weight of carbohydrates or protein. The energy from oil is released slowly, making it ideal for prolonged performance, and less likely to cause bouts of excitability associated with high cereal diets. As with any dietary change, Omega Oil should be introduced gradually to ensure that the metabolic pathways within the body can adapt to oil utilisation. NAF Omega Oil uses a blend of three natural oils to provide the correct balance of PUFAs. It is suitable for all horses to support health, performance and where the history indicates. Omega Oil is also recommended for use in small animals to maintain a glossy coat and support healthy joints.

Adaptation to an oil-based diet is a slow process. It can take up to 10 weeks to see the difference. It is not recommended that Omega Oil should entirely replace the grain ration in a high concentrate diet, as this may result in nutrient deficiencies. For performance horses on the larger amounts of oil it is recommended that NAF Vitamin E, Selenium and Lysine is also fed.
