Some horses may appear to never reach their full potential.
Poor lung function, stress, or residual mucus can all put
additional strain on the horse's respiratory system, often requiring
equine veterinary attention for problems such as epistaxis.
This tincture-rich product is formulated
to help support and maintain your horse's respiratory
response to the extreme physical demands of strenuous exercise.
Contains: 1:3 tinctures of
Eyebright herb, Plantain leaf, Yarrow herb, Hawthorn berries,
Elderflowers, Garlic bulbs, with Apple Cider Vinegar & Honey.
1. The herb Yarrow
has many common country names including Nose Bleed, Staunchweed,
Soldier's Woundwort, and Knight's Milfoil. The name Achillea is said to
have come from the famous Greek soldier, Achilles, who fought in the
Trojan wars. It is said that Achilles made use of the herb on the
battlefield to help staunch the wounds of his soldiers. Achilles wasn't
the only soldier to find this herb useful, it was also used extensively
by the Crusaders, hence the names Soldier's Woundwort and Knight's
Milfoil.
2. Epistaxis is commonly caused by Exercise
Induced Pulmonary Hemorrhage (EIPH) is a common condition that occurs
in performance horses while at fast exercise. While EIPH often goes
undetected, it can result in epistaxis. Hemorrhage is caused by rupture
of capillaries in the lung due to the enormous differences in pressure
that occur there during strenuous exercise. In most cases, the
hemorrhage, although adversely affecting athletic performance, causes
no illness. More severe EIPH may result from rupture of larger vessels
and this may be fatal. EIPH is often diagnosed and monitored by regular
endoscopic exam.
