Instructions: Shake well. Mix into feed. Horses: Feed 30ml per day Ponies: Feed 15ml per day When using for a prolonged period, e.g. throughout the summer, we recommend that feeding is stopped for 2 days after every 2 weeks in order to re-stimulate the immune system.

Echinacea effectively acts to support equine immuno-competence and red blood cell health.

The modern horse is often kept on a yard with others, and with travelling and competing there are plenty of chances for viruses and bugs to be transmitted from one to another. It is therefore essential that the horse has a well developed immune system to cope with these different assaults. Echinacea is one of the most widely used herbal remedies in both the human and veterinary world. Traditionally used for its beneficial effect on the immune system, this theory has recently been investigated by the Equine Research Centre in Ontario. Echinacea angustifolia was fed to healthy horses and their response was monitored for 42 days. Echinacea was found to maintain the activity of white blood cells and optimise the size and quantity of the red blood cells and their concentration of haemaglobin. From the trial it was concluded that Echinacea effectively acts to support equine immuno-competence and would be recommended for horses under stress, or to maximise exercise physiology and performance. NAF Echinacea Liquid also supplies Astragalus and Uncaria. Astragalus is rich in flavonoids, and is traditionally used in Chinese medicine where it is recommeded for immune function. Uncaria (Cat's Claw) provides a source of alkaloids with anti-oxidant function. NAF Echinacea Liquid is recommended for all classes of horse, whether presenting symptoms or when the immune system is under extra pressure - change in environment, competing away from home etc. Also suitable as a haematinic agent for peak fitness, e.g. racing.
